We'll have a conversation about how best to leverage our own understanding and practice of personal learning networks in ways that can influence others' professional practice and, ultimately, create change in schools and classrooms.
Some Framing Questions (If We Need Them)
What is a personal learning network? How do we define it?
How do we approach personal learning networks from a professional practice standpoint?
From a curriculum standpoint?
What might a blueprint for the implementation be?
What are the barriers?
Here is the chat log from the uStream! ~LeeBaber
12:48 ehelfant-1 : so i don't have to read all the blogs
12:48 cfisher : gotta jump in to another session. Skyping in to it in about 10 minutes. Be back later
12:49 ijesspederson : @cfisher hurry back :)
12:50 ijesspederson : @tom_turner yea i'm regretting it now, this is so col
12:50 ijesspederson : cool
12:50 budtheteacher : hi, room
12:50 JackieB-1 : Hey Bud!
12:50 tom_turner : so make him stay home this summer, you go to NECC .... Hey Bud
12:51 ijesspederson : I'll be at the WI deal in april where ijohn, jakes and jlwager are presenting
12:51 budtheteacher : how's the presentation - can't get the video - too much for the xo.
12:52 feedingchange-1 : is good - they
12:52 feedingchange-1 : theyre talking about their feeds and how much info can one person really take in
12:53 datruss : Love that, "I want to be a widget in your learning space"
12:53 datruss : teacher to student
12:53 lisalinn : Go KJ!
12:53 lisalinn : HI KC!
12:54 lisalinn : we have to filter just like our "natives" do with all of their info gathering we are behaving like them using a new tool to facilitate it
12:55 budtheteacher : Are they really filtering?
12:55 ijesspederson : NECC would be awesome don't know if i will be there yet
12:55 lisalinn : Go! It's going to be amazing this year
12:55 wcgaskins-1 : I will not be able to attend
12:55 lisalinn : think of all the new connections we've made!
12:56 budtheteacher : come to NECC - it'll be good.
12:56 datruss : Not "natives" but 'digitally exposed' - all about exposure, not age/nativism
12:56 lisalinn : we need to set up a Twitter-meet
12:56 dwaltman-1 : twitter issue: for example, I follow Will, he doesn't follow me...he twittered something I thought I could help him with but he never has a chance to see my twitter
12:56 lisalinn : good point!
12:56 ijesspederson : @budthetecher i'll have to try
12:57 JackieB-1 : @dwaltman - He can look at his replies even if he doesn't follow you.
12:57 lisalinn : maybe we need to find a way to teach for simultaneous access and engagement
12:57 dwaltman-1 : thanks jackieB....that solves that problem!
12:57 dwaltman-1 : so i just need to make sure i write @will
12:57 lisalinn : eg instead of teaching ancient history one civ at a time, teach the aspects of each all at one
12:57 budtheteacher : help unteach the "twitter problem" fallacy - that'ssort of the greatest thing about twitter - equal access
12:59 wcgaskins-1 : Does anyone have a written plan for their PLN?
01:00 lisalinn : is anyone there following the chat?
01:00 ehelfant-1 : teacher and student networks provide opportunities to provide feedback on the learning process and not just the summative assessment pieces
01:00 ehelfant-1 : give places to bring in other experts too
01:00 lisalinn : @wcgaskins no we were fed a small bit and told to meet and do it
01:00 budtheteacher : Would it be helplful if we wrote out our pln for you?
01:01 wcgaskins-1 : sure...
01:01 budtheteacher : got to run
01:01 ijesspederson : people AT educon are currently not able to join the chat, tech issue
01:01 budtheteacher : be back later.
01:01 feedingchange-1 : this speaker makes a very good point about using push tech for ongoing studen research
01:02 lisalinn : push tech?
01:02 wcgaskins-1 : push tech define
01:02 dwaltman-1 : i'm going to require my ap psych students to use a blog aggregator and follow some assigned psychology blogs
01:02 ehelfant-1 : use tech to both provide additional research opportunities and to make their research process transparent
01:02 lisalinn : That's the ticket!
01:03 wcgaskins-1 : can we engage students in an ongoing research that spans the whole year and even into the next
01:03 loonyhiker : @dwaltman since i've done that, it saves me time and keeps me focused
01:03 ehelfant-1 : you are starting to talk student portfolios and research
01:03 ehelfant-1 : we're startig a 4year math research portfolio
01:03 feedingchange-1 : push tech = rss feeds, google alerts, anything that brings web info to the user
01:03 wcgaskins-1 : Has anyone tried using aggregator in middle or high shools?
01:03 lisalinn : AH!
01:03 dwaltman-1 : @loonyhiker..did your students then have to write about what they were learning from the blogs?
01:04 JackieB-1 : @ehelfant - I'd love to hear more about that math portfolio
01:04 dwaltman-1 : i think i want them to connect to our text
01:04 datruss : I don't get district filtering! Take out <censored> and sports betting- 2 things we don't want in schools- everything else should be OPEN
01:04 lisalinn : that would be beneficial
01:04 loonyhiker : yes and it also opened up a lot of relevant discussions
01:04 ehelfant-1 : project a year with librarian involvement...then analyze numbers with stell, videopoint, fathom or maple
01:04 ehelfant-1 : group stuff and reflections in digication portfolio
01:05 ehelfant-1 : its our first year..
01:05 wcgaskins : what grade level with the portfolio
01:05 JackieB-1 : @ehelfant - Have you blogged about this?
01:05 lisalinn : +EVERYTHING is blocked in my dist. I get twitter through a back-door widget hehe!
01:05 loonyhiker : @dwaltman i felt i had more control over what they were reading
01:05 ehelfant-1 : I'm not good at blogging... but i can send you info
01:06 ehelfant-1 : blogging is a goal..
01:06 lisalinn : do it at your own pace
01:06 wcgaskins : I am not good at blogging, but I keep a blog started in November
01:06 lisalinn : no one says you have to wriye everyday
01:06 lisalinn : I have gone for a month without writing
01:06 tom_turner : @wcgaskins it's not about being 'good' or 'bad' at blogging....use your blog as your own reflective practice
01:07 lisalinn : stats aren't great but I am learning and connecting
01:07 JackieB-1 : @ehelfant - Thanks. I'd love to get the information. I'll DM you.
01:07 loonyhiker : i try to follow a schedule of blogging on weekdays and a break on weekends
01:07 ijesspederson : awesome the kids are involdedin this session, cool
01:07 lisalinn : networking facilitates immersive learning
01:08 wcgaskins : I usually blog every day. Some days it is hard and I skip. This morning I posted two writings
01:09 ehelfant-1 : @JackieB we're trying to start this ning math with upper levels
01:09 ehelfant-1 : http://mathspeak.ning.com/
01:09 lisalinn : Kjarrett has 3 that he writes at least 2 posts per day between them\
01:10 lisalinn : BINGO!
01:10 lisalinn : think Silk Road
01:10 JackieB-1 : @ehelfant - Thanks. Not sure how I missed that.
01:11 JackieB-1 : Why does there have to be a difference between a learning and a social network?
01:11 ijesspederson : ijohn says its "killing them" that they are not able to be in this chat with us!
01:11 lisalinn : I wish I had my SL camera controls!
01:11 ehelfant-1 : its still a well kept secret.. teachers haven't started yet..i don't teach math, just help them embed tech
01:11 ijesspederson : he's jealous
01:12 lisalinn : couldn't one of them log into the stream and read/post?
01:12 JackieB-1 : My learning network is /the same/ as my social network.
01:12 lisalinn : mine too
01:12 lisalinn : I wish my husband understood that!
01:12 leebaber-1 : @ijesspederson..what tech issue is preventing them to connect to the chat?
01:13 wcgaskins : I am still trying to develop a social network to embrace learnig in collaboration
01:13 leebaber-1 : or don't thye know?
01:13 wcgaskins : I am trying to learn what it looks like so I can conceptualize it.
01:13 JackieB-1 : @lisalinn - Yeah. Mine doesn't quite understand that either.
01:13 ijesspederson : i don't know, they are working on it, they are VERY aware they can see the chat but not type, lol
01:14 wcgaskins : I have to understand before I can model it
01:14 ijesspederson : ijohn is listed as in this chat.... butt
01:14 ijesspederson : sorry but
01:14 ehelfant-1 : @wcgaskins I think I started with kids on a wiki where we made use of the discussion tab to study stuff..it was an entry point to all this other stuff
01:14 lisalinn : it's often a control issue
01:15 ijohnpederson-1 : can you see me?
01:15 JackieB-1 : I just finished my certification last year. There was NO talk or instruction on Web 2.0
01:15 ijesspederson : YEA, ijohn is here
01:15 lisalinn : my admin is a micro-manager
01:15 JackieB-1 : Hi ijohn!
01:15 wcgaskins : Where can I experience a learning network with kids? I would like to experience with a teacher who is doing it.
01:15 ehelfant-1 : @wcgaskins another simple networking to learn was with diigo social bookmarks and the groups they have
01:16 ehelfant-1 : @wcgaskins what do you teach
01:16 lisalinn : How do we help change/impact teacher education? do we need to have all the PhDs retire and start with a crop of natives?
01:16 ijesspederson : ijohn says he can't see anyone else chat, just sees the box lol
01:16 nsharoff-2 : I ALWAYS have problems typing w/ Ust. Doesn't always take my keystroke (must hit key multiple times)..anyone else w/ this problem?
01:16 lisalinn : I tried skyping someone there
01:16 ijesspederson : he's feeding me this on skype,lol
01:16 lisalinn : she's not answering
01:16 ijesspederson : skype chat that is
01:17 wcgaskins : I am an instructional tec coach at a middle school. I was in the classroom prior t this year teaching fiftth grade LA and social studies
01:17 leebaber-1 : @nsharoff I had that problem on my dell
01:17 leebaber-1 : but not on my macbook
01:17 leebaber-1 : interesting problem
01:17 nsharoff-2 : I'm on Sony Vaio
01:17 wcgaskins : Can we skype in on this conversation
01:18 leebaber-1 : not that i know of
01:18 leebaber-1 : i had not heard it as an option
01:18 ijesspederson : @nsharoff i think it just gets blogged down with lot's of people, there is a delay as i type too
01:19 wcgaskins : same here. I keep missing letters as I type fast.
01:19 nsharoff-2 : thx.....that would explain it
01:19 leebaber-1 : but mine is REALLY missing characters
01:19 wcgaskins : thx
01:19 nsharoff-2 : me too
01:19 leebaber-1 : so badly i can not type on Dell Inspiron 1520
01:19 nsharoff-2 : VERY frustrating
01:19 ehelfant-1 : @wcgaskings is that your twitter name.. I'll have our MS technology integrator @pwoessner get in touch with you
01:19 leebaber-1 : I wonder why a macbook is not even thinking about skipping
01:20 ijesspederson : yea ya kinda have to watch the words pop up as you type or they don't all get in there, i keep pauseing as i type for it to catch up
01:20 nsharoff-2 : I'll try my MacBook at next session
01:20 lisalinn : mine seems to be working ok
01:20 ijesspederson : it comes and goes for me
01:21 nsharoff-2 : PC user....just bought Mac (am now a convert! LOL)
01:21 techicebreaker : I don't have any problems on my COmpaq presario
01:21 ijesspederson : on a desktop
01:21 lisalinn : LAE! traitor
01:21 ijesspederson : i think it is the ustream itself, not the type of computer or it's user :)
01:21 wcgaskins : @ehelfant thanks... That would be great what is your twitter name againg
01:21 nsharoff-2 : @lisa--PC only for SL
01:21 ehelfant-1 : @ehelfant
01:22 lisalinn : active learning -that's what we are all doing but many teachers and students don't want to work that hard -some don't know how!
01:22 ijesspederson : Macs rule, lol
01:22 lisalinn : GRRRRR!
01:22 lisalinn : is that mguhlin?
01:22 lisalinn : sp?
01:22 nsharoff-2 : come over to the other side Lisa
01:22 ehelfant-1 : i think personal learning networks involve questions and dailogue...My PLN is social
01:23 ehelfant-1 : I'm beyond 1:1 computing...its all about 2:1 - need a mac and a tablet PC
01:23 lisalinn : can't afford it! I spent $1000 last summer building my PC, and I bought an XO my husband would FREAK if I bought another computer!
01:24 leebaber-1 : Well ijessepederson, i dont think it is or there wouldn't be a perfect text chat funtionality on one computer sitting next to my Dell with virtually no functionality..so i dont htink its ustream
01:24 leebaber-1 : just a scientific observation :)
01:24 nsharoff-2 : mine is a PPLN --Personal AND Professional L N....there is no line drawn
01:24 ehelfant-1 : @nsharoff mine too
01:24 lisalinn : @Nancy EXACTLY!
01:24 ijesspederson : hmmm wierd
01:25 lisalinn : yes
01:25 leebaber-1 : yes..personal learning and professional for me
01:25 lisalinn : igoogle is what enables me to twit at school
01:25 loonyhiker : i have to type slower to make sure all the letters get on
01:26 lisalinn : heehee! Yea!
01:26 lisalinn : but mine aren't really seperated for the most part
01:26 leebaber-1 : Is the SL also doing a per session gathering?
01:26 nsharoff-2 : @Lisa but can you post to Tw on ggl pgs?
01:26 wcgaskins : define SL
01:26 leebaber-1 : second life
01:26 wcgaskins : I am not up to that yet
01:27 techicebreaker : I use iGoogle as one of my home tabs, Google Reader is another
01:27 lisalinn : some people are just closer f2f like the girl who does my nails but I am closer in thought and spirit to my SL and Twit friends
01:27 loonyhiker : me 2 techice
01:27 lisalinn : @Nsharoff Yes there is a twitter widget I can only see a short string and no other pages, but I can post and read
01:28 lisalinn : PEGGY!!!!
01:28 nsharoff-2 : @Lisa -- share widget plz...
01:28 techicebreaker : Did the audio just die and come back
01:28 lisalinn : go to add stuff on igoogle
01:28 lisalinn : yes
01:28 nsharoff-2 : yees
01:29 nsharoff-2 : @Lisa there are many Tw. widgets
01:30 lisalinn : open skype
01:30 lisalinn : call me
01:31 wcgaskins : Warning: Blogging & Twittering may be harmful to your health this is blog post from the coolcat teacher
01:31 wcgaskins : we may be harming our health
01:32 ijesspederson : oh oh audio gone again
01:33 loonyhiker : lol i guess i'm already harmed
01:36 lisalinn : psychological harm -too late! My brain has already changed neuropathways have been re-routed
01:36 lisalinn : YIKES!
01:37 mmiller7571 : let me rephrase, not enough people are teaching kids appropriate use
01:38 lisalinn : we should embrace the popular technology to engage students -that doesn't mean we need to allow face book we can seperate without segregating
01:38 loonyhiker : i think u hit the nail on the head mmiller
01:38 ehelfant-1 : our student council voted to keep facebook out of school when we let themchoose
01:39 lisalinn : they are NEVER going to be where we are that is the problem with integration v.s. embedding
01:39 mmiller7571 : oh that is such a good idea to let the students decide. Some can be so wise
01:39 wcgaskins : I agree I think we don't have enough teachers know the difference in appropriate use. I have teachers who thinks it is okay to all kidsto copy pictures from google images without citing the source
01:39 techicebreaker : What if school's created their own social network and used it to teach appropriate behavior and ethics
01:39 ehelfant-1 : saw it as purely social and a forum that they didn't really need access to at school
01:39 mmiller7571 : oh another good idea, individual school networks, who/how would that be monitored
01:39 wcgaskins : I like the idea to allow school create a social network online
01:40 wcgaskins : Who is going to teach the teachers
01:40 ehelfant-1 : @techiebreaker our libary has a ning and every student is a member.. trying to move it into the advisory curriclum to do just that
01:40 techicebreaker : I would think you would need to start with a walled garden approach and expand as skills of all parties improve
01:40 wdelauder : kids experience learning on social networking sites
01:40 lisalinn : Ning would be great my admin is worried about some not being able to access. But he will always find a reason to deny if he can't control things
01:41 mmiller7571 : walled garden would create interest and more would want "in"
01:41 lisalinn : if we call it a network and use my space as an example it would be more appetizing to kids
01:41 mmiller7571 : he is making good points about TEACHING these things not just opening it wide open
01:42 lisalinn : communication with peers is the most important to my middle-schoolers
01:42 wdelauder : kids need to learn in school how they learn at home
01:42 wcgaskins : I agree
01:43 ehelfant-1 : @lisalinn when we did the library site, the rising 9s were the ones who personalized their own pages and used the wall to communicate most
01:43 wdelauder : 111 viewers
01:43 lisalinn : too many teachers are afraid that it isn't real learning
01:43 ehelfant-1 : i kept commenting with them so they didn't foget adults were part of it..
01:43 wdelauder : thats a shame
01:43 mmiller7571 : get parents on board with info and communication and then teachers may be less scared to take tech risks
01:43 wcgaskins : It is not real learning
01:43 ehelfant-1 : my feedback pushed them to keep a foot in learning
01:44 lisalinn : it IUS real learning -you just have to consider the content
01:44 lisalinn : IS
01:44 mmiller7571 : tell parents they might come across something inappropriate because that is just the way it is but that youwill try to make it a teachable moment
01:44 ehelfant-1 : this has been great.. need to go play mom for a but..see you on twitter or in next session
01:44 lisalinn : that would get me fired
01:44 lisalinn : bye
01:44 ijohnpederson : can you see me now in the chat?
01:44 techicebreaker : What is "real" learning? Is there such a thing a "pretend" learning?
01:44 lisalinn : Hi ijohn!
01:44 wcgaskins : thanks ehelfant
01:45 ijohnpederson : excellent! i'm seeing people now
01:45 mmiller7571 : parents know and have seen inappropriate stuff
01:45 ijesspederson : hi ijohn
01:45 ijohnpederson : :)
01:45 ijohnpederson : who are you?
01:45 ijesspederson : yea
01:45 wcgaskins : Pretend learning- read the chapter and answer the questions at the end of the chapter
01:45 lisalinn : Clare Lane/Lisa Linn?
01:45 nsharoff-2 : I tell teachers & parents that u don't put a young kid on curb & say cross street & walk away....we should not do that w/ tech
01:45 leebaber-1 : i always think it is better to teach as you go into the "dangerous" zones like bad sites or some types of networking..teaching how to handle things and make proper choices
01:45 MrChase-1 : Looks like the district fixed our problem.
01:45 ijesspederson : your wife silly
01:46 ijohnpederson : zac chase is my hero
01:46 ijohnpederson : :)
01:46 nsharoff-2 : I tell tchers & parents we don
01:47 lisalinn : HOw do we do the same -my prin won't budge -just can't stand that he can't control me because he doesn't understand, nor is he willing to learn what's so important about what I'm trying to do! :{
01:47 lisalinn : ijohn -please say hi to KJ and Marianne M
01:47 wcgaskins : Don;t worry they think I am speaking different language
01:48 lisalinn : lol!
01:48 wcgaskins : at myh school
01:48 lisalinn : hat's why this networking is so awesome
01:48 nsharoff-2 : I tell tchers&parent that we don't put young kid on curb & say cross street...we shouldn't do that w/ tech
01:48 lisalinn : I don't go to the lounge at all anymore I twit at lunchtime
01:49 loonyhiker : not enuf collaboration w/other tchers as it i
01:49 wdelauder : tech tech tech
01:49 nsharoff-2 : shi...t....my chat not gioing thru
01:49 wcgaskins : no one hangs out in the lounge like whe Istarted teaching 20 years ago
01:49 loonyhiker : my last school did away w/lounges
01:50 lisalinn : I haven't had lunch there a single time this year. Since we're not allowed to send or open email during class hours, I have to do email at lunch as well :{
01:50 techicebreaker : I started a newsletter last year to promote tech. I try to include at least on Web 2.0 type reference and try to get other teachers involved as well. My school doesn't have a lounge
01:51 mmiller7571 : tech newsletter is great idea too! I will encorporate more into my monthly newsletter now THANKS
01:51 wcgaskins : I find most teachers are too busy to read
01:51 wcgaskins : much less get online to read. that might be asking to much
01:51 mmiller7571 : yes, too busy to read books but blogs and internet articles are short or at least most are
01:52 mmiller7571 : we do summer book studies and eat breakfast and drink coffee a few times in the summer
01:52 techicebreaker : @mmiller7571 http://cprout.edulogs.org -Its called Five for Friday
01:52 mmiller7571 : you are great! Thanks for sharing
01:53 wcgaskins : leadership is the key
01:53 techicebreaker : ONe of our admins cautioned about sharing due to "idea thieves"... Obviously I don't agree
01:53 lisalinn : WHAT???
01:53 tbest : idea theives...wow!
01:53 wcgaskins : Leadership can start at the bottom, but it takes a lot longer
01:53 mmiller7571 : oh good grief, all teachers are "Idea thieves" if that is what he wants to call it
01:53 lisalinn : No wonder we have so much trouble convincing these people to collaborate and share!
01:55 ijesspederson : YES!!! bring all the tools into the school and teach tiem how to use them all
01:55 leebaber-1 : Plus repetition (going there every class) teaches more than the skill of using all the new tools . In the stable environment of a classroom students get a feeling of safety. That then turns into their own knowledge base from which to make decisions when they are alone.
01:55 ijesspederson : yea to who ever this is speaking!
01:55 lisalinn : Go GF! Marianne/KnowClue ROCKS!
01:56 lisalinn : Hire that man!
01:56 wcgaskins : Yes
01:57 lisalinn : that is a BAD idea
01:57 ijesspederson : yes we must be on facebook with them to teach them proper use
01:57 wcgaskins : I am trying to get google doc unblocked.
01:57 leebaber-1 : does google admin allow you to put studetns on that are otherwise blocked from Docs?
01:57 adamrg : I've been posting assignments and powerpoints for my classes online using google docs.
01:58 lisalinn : they deserve their spaces -we can teach them without taking that away from them. Would you have wanted your teacher in your treehouse/fort or one of you "clubs"?as a kid
01:58 loonyhiker : what a great idea! if the kids have one, have parents join and be added as a friend.hmmm
01:59 lisalinn : I'd rather show them the Frontline episode or another illustration of the negatives and make the whole thing a lesson
01:59 ijesspederson : I'm not saying hang out in the clubhouse with them all the time but be aware and tech them AT school how to use social networking tools of all kinds intelligently
01:59 wcgaskins : We need a Skype conference later in the day to reflect
01:59 ijesspederson : sorry teach
02:00 lisalinn : I azbsolutely agree with that! but do it without invading their "kidspace" Get their password (parents) and monitor too
02:00 lisalinn : use another tool like Ning
02:01 techicebreaker : Schools should create their own walled gardens for social networking
02:01 wcgaskins : I like nig
02:01 lisalinn : we need th "campfire"
02:01 wcgaskins : nin
02:01 mmiller7571 : kids won't give you their password or they will make up another site and password
02:01 techicebreaker : campfire?
02:01 lisalinn : Thornburg Camp firewws in Cyberspace The watering hole, the campfire, and the cave
02:02 wcgaskins : How about around 830 to reflect on skype I am w.c.gaskins
02:02 techicebreaker : Excellent conversation here today!
02:02 wcgaskins : thaks everyone
02:02 lisalinn : thanks to all of you
02:02 lisalinn : who are you onTwitter I'd like to add
02:03 wcgaskins : wcgaskins
02:03 loonyhiker : i'm on twitter - loonyhiker

02:10 BethRitterGuth : hi
02:10 BethRitterGuth : testing
02:11 wcgaskins-1 : Hello from South Carolina
Dear Chris and all from this conference :
I just want to tell you I am a teacher from China and I am attending your conference viturally now in China ,and jotted down something I can hear , My listening of English is okay but still I can only catch about 50 percent of the conversation I tried my best I will keep track of the conversation later in this conference especially when it comes to my favourte edublogger I am nobody but you might hear about FLNW conference based in Thailand I got a podcast withAlex and Stephen on line talked about Networked learning and what does mean to a Chinese teacher like me ,if you have time you can go to http://flnw.wikispaces.com /flnw2_itinerary which is on Jan14th I canot access to blogspot coz it is blocked here in China for many years , so I canot hear my own podcast on line if I don't use proxy to help me . but any way I want to say thank you for the work all of you have done for this educonference I really learned a lot from it and will keep working on the jotting down things and trying to report back here again in next few days . The below is just something I jotted down tonight from the video from the video above and some of my own reflections on this :
okay I am trying to trace the development of the conference and document something and maybe retell as a story ,I mean not only blogging about it ,
First I don't understand why it is called pre-recorded rather than after-recorded ?
anway , he vedio is working slowly at the begining and the second half of vedio work much better than the begining , though I canot see the people 's face but I tried to pick up what they said ,for example here is something I catch "people start by talking about twitter , and move to convesation about Personal leearning network to social network , one guy said Initiating the converation is very important skill ( I had the same problem with my sophmore students in China they refused to use these tools at the begining ) , to begin the application in like facebook with students but don't teach that , another person I don't know who he is said about tools how can we relate student with the real world by using these tools ( I had the similare situation here but in a different way my students are mostly struggling what is the meaning to them when they social networking with their classmates and what things they have been really learning from my class ?), and the facilitator sorry who is he the very tall guy , he said about truthfulness ( I really like his facilitation during the whole video ) and teaching move to modeling( so teaching is all about modeling and demonstaring in web2.0 ?) and a guy sit on desk began to debate ( his name Tom the only person I hear the name coz he is near the camera ?) he said we canot teach the skills to kids today( I partly agree ) , then i guess he is the guy who is one of my favourtite blogger( guess who he is )he is with glasses , sit at the right corner ) said something but I canot hear , how do we begin to sociallly use the outside of network ,make it in to the big world ,then just some keywords I jotted down , school educator teacherble moments are some words I jot down , But TOM said don't do that then how do we take outside of PLE to the school and make it become of part of curriculum ( this is qustion I have been thinking about ) then a teacher at back said Teacher is a lonely profession , and she canot find so many RSS feeds which she can feel she can apply it to teaching ( I have the same feeling she feel ) and Tom gave a example on Japan ,how Japan teacher do the Professional Development by developing the model lesson for the new teacher ( using what tools ? I am doing something like that in China so really want to find out more about Japan thing) but it need to know the local structure to do it then I lost the conversation, then it was very late so I stopped the listening practice for me :)
I can watch again but the above is so far that is what I jotted down during the conversation ,and maybe will blog about it is about the conversation moments werarely have in our I mean China education when it comes to the global perspective ,questions like what are the role teacher should play in this world , especially with conversation I really like idea of Educon is both a conference and a conversation and I don't know if they kow there is teacher in China is watching what have putting on here , and figuring out what does this mean to him personanlly and professinonally ,
sorry , it is very late here in China , I will keep tracking on this conference as much as I could in next few days ,and here are the some pics I got from the video (no preference )
sorry I tried but canot uoload the pics here but you can go here and here and here andhere to take a look
01:47 lisalinn : HOw do we do the same -my prin won't budge -just can't stand that he can't control me because he doesn't understand, nor is he willing to learn what's so important about what I'm trying to do! :{
01:47 lisalinn : ijohn -please say hi to KJ and Marianne M
01:50 lisalinn : I haven't had lunch there a single time this year. Since we're not allowed to send or open email during class hours, I have to do email at lunch as well :{
01:50 techicebreaker : I started a newsletter last year to promote tech.

I can watch again but the above is so far that is what I jotted down during the conversation ,and maybe will blog about it is about the conversation moments werarely have in our I mean China education when it comes to the global perspective ,questions like what are the role teacher should play in this world , especially with conversation I really like idea of Educon is both a conference and a conversation and I don't know if they kow there is teacher in China is watching what have putting on here , and figuring out what does this mean to him personanlly and professinonally ,
sorry , it is very late here in China , I will keep tracking on this conference as much as I could in next few days ,and here are the some pics I got from the video (no preference )
sorry I tried but canot uoload the pics here but you can go here and here and here andhere to take a look
more later
